Watson Country’s brand-new Chrysler
Dodge Jeep and Ram dealership in Rockford
provides another portal into Watson
Country. To make sure the customer
experience is at the highest level between
locations, Watson Country strives to find
the most qualified people in the business.
“People are the foundation of our business,
said Cody Watson, general manager of
Watson Manistee, Ludington and Rockford
locations. Derek Watson, founder of the
dealerships chimed in, “we have the Watson
Way of doing business. We have very
high customer service expectations," he
continued. "We want every customer to
know we have their back, we want them
to know they are appreciated, we want
them to feel so good about our stores that
they come back and bring a friend or family
member.” This philosophy is apparently
working because Chrysler has awarded
Watson Country multiple Customer First
Awards for service excellence over the
years.
With stores in Benzonia, Manistee,
Ludington and now Rockford, Watson
Country is never more than 100 miles
from customers in Traverse City to Grand
Rapids. This means that the selection of
cars, trucks and service destinations for a
Watson Customer just got easy. With over
500 new and previously owned vehicles
combined, Watson Country has an available
inventory that is unmatched by most area
dealers. Customers can shop from their
home by visiting WatsonCountry.com on
line. “Online car shopping is one of the
most important aspects of today’s
car business” said Manistee Sales
manager Charlie Ludwig. “It’s great,
said Ludwig, “customers contact us
online or phone us about a certain
car or truck and we make sure the
car is here so they can see it when
they get to the dealership.
The average car shopper is more
informed than ever. With a click
of a mouse a car buyer can visit
many different dealerships anywhere in the
state or country for that matter looking for
the best deal. “We have to have the best
price period” said Jay Kilgo sale manager in
Ludington. We’ve got the product having
Ram Trucks and the Jeep lineup and we have
the best people, but it often comes down
to price and that’s where we really rock.
We have the Watson Best Price guarantee
which means we will give you our best price
because we know the consumer will shop
elsewhere if we fail in that area.

BY Mark Phelan, Detroit Free Press,

Fiat Chrysler’s 2019 Ram 1500 pickup
scored the first win of the vehicle
awards season, taking home honors as
the 2019 Truck of Texas, a big win in a
state that accounts for a quarter of all
U.S. pickup sales.
The new Ram, Chevrolet Silverado
and GMC Sierra will compete for
bragging rights and kudos they can
use in advertising for the next three
months. Every big win will be used
to support the brands’ claim to build
the top vehicle in the best-selling and
most profitable segment of the auto
industry.

RAM 1500 PICKUP
Ram’s win of the top overall prize comes
with an asterisk, though. Chevrolet chose
not to compete. A spokesman said the
brand passed on this year’s contest to focus
resources on other events.
Nonetheless, Ram got the first bragging
rights in a season that will see fierce
competition for a number of influential new
truck awards among the new pickups.
Sixty-nine automotive writers voted on the
award after the Texas Truck Rodeo, a three-
day comparison event that drew 19 brands
and a wide range of pickups and SUVs.
Truck of Texas is the top overall award. It
also compliments the True West theme of
the Ram 1500’s Laramie Longhorn model.
The pickup’s lavish interior includes saddle
bag-style map pockets and an-honest-to-
John-Wayne branding iron used to imprint
its name on reclaimed wood.
The new Ram, which also features a 48-volt
mild hybrid system to save fuel, swept the
field of lesser awards for full-size pickups
and a pair of awards for best features,
bringing home:
BEST FULL-SIZE PICKUP — Ram 1500
Limited
BEST HEAVY-DUTY PICKUP — Ram 2500
Power Wagon
BEST LUXURY PICKUP — Ram 1500
Laramie Longhorn
BEST OFF-ROAD PICKUP — 2019 Ram

BEST TECHNOLOGY — 2019 Ram 1500

Ram 2500/3500 — Total Quality Among
Heavy Duty Pickups
OCTOBER 16, 2018 - AUBURN HILLS, MI -
Dodge led all Mass-market Brands in total
quality, while three FCA US LLC vehicles
won their respective segments in Strategic
Vision’s 24th annual Total Quality Impact™
(TQI) report.
The Dodge Durango led the Mid-size SUV
segment for the fifth time in six years, while
the Jeep® Renegade and Ram 2500/3500
captured wins in the Entry SUV and Heavy-
Duty Pickups segments, respectively.
“TQI shows how people feel about their
vehicles in their own words, which reveal
valuable recommendations for future
products,” says Chris Chaney, Senior Vice
President at Strategic Vision. “From how
customers are advocating about their
products, automotive manufacturers can
know where the future of the U.S. market is
going.
TQI looks at quality as not only the driver’s
rational evaluation of quality, but also looks
at how perceived quality has influenced
drivers on an emotional level.
Strategic Vision’s 24th annual Total Quality
Impact (TQI) report is based on results from
the New Vehicle Experience Study® (NVES)
surveying over 44,000 July – December
new vehicle buyers after the first 90 days
of ownership. It incorporates the impact
of problems with the vehicle as well as the
drivers’ analytical and emotional evaluations
of quality.

2018 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE TRACKHAWK
FIRST TEST REVIEW:
POWER MAD
JEEP PUTS 707 HORSEPOWER UNDER THE HOOD. ARE THEY CRAZY?
There's a line from Moby-Dick, "In a
whaler wonders soon wane." Cetaceans
are awesome creatures, magnificent
mammalian consequences of evolution.
Awesome, in the older, proper sense of the
word. And in a life spent in their pursuit, so
filled was it with wonder, the whaler soon
grew immune to unsubduable excitement.
As much as I try and not let myself get
numb to the routine of driving fantastic
dream machinery, it happens.
So imagine my surprise when, leaving Motor
Trend HQ one afternoon, I floored the Jeep
Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and found
myself laughing like a fool for 30 seconds
straight. Mind you, I only floored the big,
red Jeep for about three seconds, but that
was enough to make me giggle and guffaw
for 10 times as long. I wasn't in Sport mode
or Track mode, and I wasn't using launch
control.
As Jimi Hendrix would term it, I am
experienced. Experienced with both
powerful and crazy. The AMG 6x6 jumps to
mind, as does the Lamborghini Urus, the
Lamborghini LM002, the BMW X6 M, and
even a good old Unimog. I've also driven a
number of cars with 700-plus horsepower;
heck, I had a Dodge Charger Hellcat for a
year. Until recently, however, I'd never driven
an SUV with 700-plus horsepower.
Well, live long enough, and you'll see
everything. Including the new Jeep Grand
Cherokee Trackhawk, the family SUV with
a 707-horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged
V-8 under the hood. Crazy? By design.
It's refreshing, both personally and
professionally, to get whomped over the
head by something as utterly ridiculous as
the Trackhawk. But is it any good?
I had been in the Trackhawk's driver's seat
for maybe a minute and just buried my right
foot. To brag a little, I've hit 171 mph on the
front straight of Big Willow in a Porsche 918
and hit 193 mph on the Bonneville salt in an
AMG GT S. I'm used to big machines doing
big things. But none of them tickled my
funny bone like this $100,960 Jeep. I haven't
laughed about a car like that since I don't
remember.
What's it feel like? Well, some of the giggles
come from how it launches the opposite of
a Hellcat. Perhaps not what you'd expect
because the two vehicles sport the same
engines, same power, and nearly the same
torque (645 versus 650 lb-ft). The thing
is, although the Hellcat is both a Pirelli
shareholder's best friend and a smoke
machine, the Trackhawk—by virtue of
all-wheel drive—puts all that screaming
supercharged fury down to the pavement.
The big Jeep also lurches back on its
haunches in a fun but startling way. For a
brief moment, it feels as if the Trackhawk's
beak is pointed at the sun. The adaptive
Bilsteins are actually fairly stiff (and would
be stiffer still if I'd been in Track mode),
but with 70 percent of the power hitting
the rear wheels, thanks to a fixed torque
split, this Jeep is going to lean back when
launching.
How does this thing handle? Another
reminiscence if I may. Since I've driven the
Porsche 918, I inevitably get asked how it is
to drive. "Fast," I say. "It's just fast." Meaning,
I know that I drove four laps around the
big track at Willow Springs, but I literally
remember nothing about the 889-hp hybrid
hypercar, save for how fast it is. Nada. Same
is true for the Trackhawk, only in terms
of initial acceleration. I know I took some
corners in it, but the bulk of my memory
comes from that first launch. It's just so
brutally quick that I know I drove the Jeep
aggressively on a curvy road, but I just can't
get past the fury of leaving from a dead
stop. Speaking of which, the Trackhawk
hit 60 mph in 3.3 seconds in our testing,
beating Jeep's claimed time of 3.5 seconds.
The quickest we've ever hit 60 mph in
Hellcat testing is 3.7 seconds, for both the
Challenger and the Charger (both were
eight-speed autos—we've never tested
a manual). For SUVs, the quickest to 60
mph we tested before the Trackhawk were
Tesla Model X (3.2 seconds), the Bentley
Bentayga (3.5 seconds), the BMW X6 M (3.7
seconds) and the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S
Coupe 4Matic (3.9). Lamborghini is claiming
3.7 seconds to 60 mph for the 650-hp Urus,
though I think we'll see 3.4. Discounting the
instant-on torque of the Tesla, so far, so
good for the Trackhawk.
But right now is as good a time as any to
mention one little caveat: We weighed
the Trackhawk, and the results aren't
pretty—5,448 pounds. That's a lot of
SUV. That AMG, for instance—which
coincidently shares the same underpinnings
as the Trackhawk, the last remnants of
DaimlerChrysler—weighs nearly 100
pounds less (5,359 pounds). The X6 M
comes in at a relatively trim 5,187 pounds.
All of which makes the Trackhawk's
acceleration that much more crazy.
To continue that conversation, in the
quarter-mile test, the Trackhawk runs
11.7 seconds at 116.2 mph. Did you ever
think we'd see the day when a production
SUV runs the quarter in the 11s? That's
just crazy! Or should I say ludicrous, as the
Model X when in Ludicrous mode also runs
an 11.7-second quarter mile. However, the
Trackhawk's trap speed is 0.2 mph higher
than the Model X's, so Jeep beats Tesla
in a drag race. What a world. Speaking of
11s, the 600-horsepower Bentayga runs
11.9 seconds at 117.1 mph. Some other
fast SUVs for you to consider: the X6 M,
but that slowpoke took 12.1 seconds at
114.3 mph. The quickest we've ever seen
a four-door Hellcat run is 11.8 seconds at
124.3 mph. Meaning the Jeep is quicker,
but the extra 900 pounds of lard and AWD
hardware slows it down in terms of velocity,
hence the 8-mph
gap at the end of
1,320 feet. The
quickest two-door
Hellcat ties the
Trackhawk at 11.7
seconds, but its
trap is higher still
at 125.4 mph. The
Challenger Hellcat
just happens to
weigh 999 pounds
less than the
Trackhawk. (That's
666 if you invert
coincidence or
conspiracy?)
Just to further
impress upon you how quick this Jeep is,
the Corvette Grand Sport hits 60 mph in 3.9
seconds and runs the quarter mile in 12.2 at
116.1 mph. Moreover, the 650-hp Camaro
ZL1 with the 10-speed auto hits 60 mph
in 3.5 seconds and runs the quarter mile in
11.5 seconds at 125.0. This Jeep is straight-
line legit.
The Trackhawk's stopping power is neither
great nor terrible—108 feet from 60 mph ,
not supercar distances but impressive given
its ample heft. The figure eight is another
story. The time itself is solid: 24.7 seconds,
which happens to tie the single Challenger
Hellcat. We've tested three different Charger
Hellcats and have seen 24.4, 24.5, and 24.6
seconds. Meaning this big Jeep can hustle.
The experience, however, is more of a mixed
bag. "I just about put my foot through the
floor on the first lap because the stopping
power wasn't what I was expecting from
the Brembos and P Zeros," road test editor
Chris Walton said. "Granted, it's a
heavy mutha, and it goes across
the middle of the course at 79 mph,
but I really had to back up the brake
zone by about three Jeep lengths to
make the corner of the skidpad.
"Once there, it turns in rather
slowly, offers only a little hint of
the front tires' punishment, and
eventually settles into terminal understeer,"
he continued. "The exit, however, is where
the 'Wheeeeee' happens. You can literally
stand on the loud pedal and do a four-
wheel drift until it's pointing straight. Then
it simply goes like stink. Finally, all-wheel
drive to make use of all that Hellcat
horsepower and torque that can't be fully
utilized in either the Challenger or Charger."
I completely agree with Chris on that last
point. I got bored of having to change
tires on our long-term Hellcat. Simply put,
the 707-hp barcalounger couldn't put
its prodigious power to the ground. This
supercharged super Jeep sure can.
Before the Trackhawk, if you would have
told me that one day there will be a
$100,000-plus Jeep, I would have assumed
it would have been some sort of luxurious,
reborn Grand Wagoneer—complete with
the off-road chops the fabled brand is
known for. I never would have seen a
dragstrip bruiser in the cards. Yet here we
are. I'm sure we can all agree that there's no
need for a vehicle like this. But boy, are we
all happy Jeep gave it the green light. I got no
problem with crazy, as long as it's the good
kind of crazy. You know, the kind that makes
a supercar saturated car scribe giggle like a
todder. Ain't no wonder waning here.

When winter hits, so do a variety of weather
challenges — from heavy snow and ice to below-
zero temperatures. What do these conditions
mean for your daily drive? According to the
National Weather Service, icy roads can lead to
an increase in traffic accidents. To help stay safe
on the roads, brush up on your winter car driving
know-how with these safety tips.
BUILD A WINTER CAR EMERGENCY KIT
It’s always better to be prepared for a roadside
situation, just in case. Keep a winter emergency
kit in your car that contains necessities such as
a snow shovel and brush, warning flares and
reflective triangles, a bag of kitty litter or sand
for traction, extra clothes, gloves, hand warmers,
hats and thermal blankets, says the Colorado
Department of Transportation. According to U.S.
News and World Report, you’ll also want to be
sure it’s well stocked with first-aid essentials and
nonperishable high-energy food items, like jerky,
nuts, energy bars and water. Put it all in a plastic
container and stash it in your trunk.
CHECK YOUR TIRES
As temperatures drop, so does the pressure
in your tires, says the National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration (NHTSA). Your tires are
your main connection to the road, so you want
to be sure they are inflated properly and often
(check your pressure at least once a month),
adds the NHSTA. Look for your vehicle’s correct
tire pressure on the tag within the driver’s-side
doorjamb or in your owner’s manual. Depending
on the conditions in your area, you may want to
swap into winter tires. If not, ensure you have
a safe tread depth for road conditions.
To see if it’s about time for new tires,
take the “penny test.” Simply, hold it
between your thumb and forefinger so
that Lincoln’s head is showing. Place the
top of Lincoln’s head pointing down into
one of the grooves of the tire’s tread.
If any part of Lincoln’s head is obscured by the
tread, you have a safe amount of tread, according
to Bridgestone Tire. If you can see his entire head,
it may be time to replace your tire because the
tread is no longer deep enough.
AVOID SPINNING OUT ON ICE
Slick surfaces typically require a longer stopping
distance, so keep a greater-than-usual distance
between your car and other vehicles when roads
are snowy and icy, according to the NHTSA.
Having this distance may give you ample time to
respond to road and weather hazards. Practice
gentle acceleration and braking to maintain
consistent traction. If your wheels begin to spin,
release the accelerator until traction returns.
If you find yourself in a skid, Edmunds advises
letting up on the gas and steering in the direction
you want the front of your car to go. Experts warn
that you should not hit the gas or the brake until
you have control of your car again.
MAINTAIN YOUR CAR’S BATTERY
Your engine’s oil thickens as temperatures drop.
The thicker the oil, the more power your car
battery requires, according to NHTSA. This can be
particularly challenging for batteries three years
old or older, says Angie’s List. If you know your
battery is older than three years, you may want
to replace it. Peek under the hood to be sure your
battery is ready for the challenge of winter.
STEP UP TO NEW SAFETY TECHNOLOGY
Looking to get a new car before winter? You may
want to consider some with the latest safety
features. Most automakers offer electronic
traction and stability control systems that work
along with the car’s anti-lock braking system to
help assist drivers in icy road conditions. These
safety systems help a driver maintain control
in curves and turns — especially in snowy or
slippery conditions — by detecting when the
vehicle begins to slip and reducing the throttle
and applying the brakes to individual wheels to
help correct the vehicle’s orientation, according to
Edmunds.
When Jack Frost blows into town, snow and ice
are inevitable, but being prepared for treacherous
roads can help you to know what to anticipate.
Keep these tips in your mental glove box to help
make the most of a snowy, slippery situation.

Back in September of 2017,
a man in rural Pennsylvania
was touring the property
of his recently deceased
neighbor when he unearthed
one hell of a barn find: a
Go Mango 1970 Dodge
Charger R/T equipped with
the famed 440 "Six Pack"
V-8 engine and a four-
speed manual transmission.
According to this Charger
registry, only 22 such cars
exist. That this one hadn't seen daylight in
decades makes it all the more incredible.
1970 was the first year for the 440 Six Pack
engine. The name refers to the engine’s use of
three two-barrel carburetors, which brought
the horsepower rating up to 390. The original
engine wasn’t under the hood when the
current owner of this Charger found the car
hiding under a plastic sheet in his neighbor's
barn, one of about 80 vehicles the old man
had amassed over the years.
Luckily, he had held onto it; the numbers-
matching mill was discovered in the basement
and reinstalled after a complete mechanical
refresh. The rest of the car has also been
brought back to driving condition, though the
body still bears a good amount of surface rust
around the edges. The interior is in surprisingly
decent shape, but it's not anyone's idea of a
show car.
The current owner, who bought the car from
his neighbor's estate, recently tried selling
the Charger on eBay, but
the bidding maxed out at
$46,669.69 and failed to
meet the reserve. The car
runs and drives but it’s
still in semi-rough shape,
though it’s a lot prettier
now than it was when
it was pulled out of the
barn. To give this car a full
restoration would be a big
job, but it’s a numbers-
matching Six Pack 1970
Dodge Charger R/T, which makes it a rare
piece of muscle car history.
You can still go to the eBay listing to read
more details about the car’s story and see
a ton of pictures. Even though it’s rusty and
failed to sell, it’s still good to see it’s surviving
and being driven instead of rotting in a barn.
Chances are we'll see it listed again soon
enough.

October 15, 2018, Auburn Hills, Mich. – Four
FCA US vehicles were awarded with a 2018
J.D. Power Resale Value Award, recognizing the
best resale value across 24 model-level vehicle
segments. Ram 3500 Heavy Duty pickup trucks
won for having the highest resale value in the
entire industry. Dodge Challenger, Charger and
Jeep® Wrangler won in their respective segments
for having exceptional resale value.
RAM 3500
Ram Truck builds America's longest-lasting
pickups, proving a commitment to quality,
reliability and durability. For 2018, Ram continues
to offer incredible capability in three-quarter and
one-ton pickups with 31,210 pounds of towing,
7,390 pounds of payload and 930 lb.-ft. of torque.
Ram Heavy Duty offers more innovative features
and better ride quality than competitors' trucks,
made possible by a five-link coil suspension
or optional air suspension on Ram 2500 and a
supplemental air bag suspension option on Ram
3500.
DODGE CHALLENGER
Building on the success of the Challenger in 2018,
Dodge launches the most powerful SRT Hellcat
lineup ever in 2019, by leveraging the power of
the record-setting Dodge Challenger SRT Demon
to introduce the new performance halo for the
brand and the most powerful, quickest and
fastest muscle car – the 797-horsepower Dodge
Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye.
The Challenger SRT Hellcat returns with output
now starting at 717-horsepower and both Hellcat
models feature a new dual-snorkel hood that
pays homage to the distinctive Dodge design
themes from some of its most famous muscle
cars, including the 1970 Dart Swinger and 1971
Demon. The new R/T Scat Pack Widebody
includes fender flares, adding 3.5 inches of body
width, 20 x 11-inch forged wheels, 305/35ZR20
Pirelli tires and larger six-piston Brembo brakes
in the front for improved on-road and on-track
performance. The new Challenger GT rear-wheel-
drive model extends its performance capabilities
with standard Super Track Pak features,
performance hood, splitter and seats, for the first
time ever with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine.
Eight distinct models make up the reconfigured
vehicle lineup for 2019: SXT, SXT AWD, GT, GT
AWD, R/T, R/T Scat Pack, SRT Hellcat and SRT
Hellcat Redeye. Numerous option packages
offer all the upgrades, unique heritage cues
and additional performance that Dodge//SRT
customers demand. Challenger offers a full range
of engine options, including the award-winning
3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 on SXT, SXT AWD, GT and
GT AWD models, the legendary 5.7-liter HEMI®
V-8 in the R/T models, the naturally aspirated
392 HEMI V-8 on R/T Scat Pack models, the
supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V-8 on the SRT
Hellcat and a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI high-
output V-8 on the SRT Hellcat Redeye.
DODGE CHARGER
From the quickest, fastest and most powerful
sedan in the world to V-6 efficiency and all-
wheel-drive (AWD) capability, the Dodge Charger
lineup is designed and engineered to provide
the ultimate in high-performance comfort and
road-ready confidence as America's only four-
door muscle car. Dodge Charger's rear-wheel-
drive (RWD) architecture enables a model lineup
highlighted by extensive performance-driven
powertrains with the latest technology under the
hood and behind the wheel – further building on
the Dodge brand's promise to deliver American
performance machines with world-class power,
efficiency, technology, authentic materials and
standout styling.
Standard on every Dodge Charger model is the
innovative TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic
transmission. Charger offers a full range of
powerful engine options on six distinct models,
including the award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar
V-6 on Charger SXT, SXT AWD and GT, the
legendary 5.7-liter HEMI®® V-8 on R/T models,
the naturally aspirated 392 HEMI V-8 on R/T Scat
Pack models and the 707-horsepower 6.2-liter
supercharged HEMI SRT Hellcat V-8.
For 2019, Dodge repositions the lineup to
include a new Charger SXT AWD model and a
new Charger GT RWD performance V-6 model.
Charger GT and R/T models get the performance
look and features standard and receive a full
complement of race-bred chassis upgrades.
Charger SRT Hellcat and R/T Scat Pack feature
standard performance upgrades, including Launch
Assist and Line Lock; a new performance grille
with dual air inlets; new Launch Control switch
on R/T Scat Pack; and Torque Reserve, After-Run
Chiller on SRT Hellcat.
JEEP WRANGLER
The iconic Jeep® Wrangler – the most capable
and recognized vehicle in the world – delivers
unmatched off-road capability and is produced
with more than seven decades of 4x4 engineering
experience. Powertrain options include a
3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 and an all-new 2.0-liter
turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine.
Wrangler continues to offer a body-on-frame
design, front and rear five-link suspension
system, solid axles, electronic lockers and is one
of the few midsize SUVs that offer a six-speed
manual transmission in addition to its available
eight-speed automatic.
For many people, when you purchase a car or
truck, it is the biggest buying decision you will
make with the exception of your home.
Every dealer claims to have the best price, the
best service and the best selection.
Why Watson Country? Because in Watson
Country we have great prices, selection and
service but we also have vehicle buying
intangibles that few others can claim.
We are family owned and that means we put
your family into a vehicle that we would put
our own family in.
We are local; we shop and go to school with
your families. We live in your community.
When we see you, we want to be able to ask,
how’s your car doing?
We don’t believe in high pressure sales and we
do everything we can to create a hassle free
buying experience.
We want to make sure you are taken care of
before and after your purchase by providing a
full tank of gas with every new car. We also
make sure you get that 1st oil change at no
charge. We even provide free shuttle service
or a loaner if your car is in for service.
We believe our customers are our friends and
our best sales people because they boast
about our personalized attention and VIP
treatment.
Finally, we believe in “you” the customer
because without you we are just another
dealer. You can get one of those anywhere.
